Exactly 5 years ago today, Zach asked me to marry him at the Idaho Falls Temple. It was FREEZING (as it often is in Idaho) and I don't think I had a coat on while we were walking around. The days leading up to this are funny to remember; the week before it had been my stake conference. We were in different wards and we weren't one of those couples who attended one or the other's wards - we each went to our own. But our stake events usually fell at different times, and so we would usually go with each other to those. I asked Zach if he wanted to come to the Saturday afternoon session with me. he said no, coming up with some excuse that his roommate needed a ride somewhere. I remembered being rather miffed over this LAME excuse. Did his roommate not have 4 other guys with cars to ask? Seriously...lame. But whatever. I was irritated about it, because the week previous he had called rather last minute to have me come to his Stake Conference - I only felt I deserved the same attention! **It's really funny to me to think about this now; when I was single, the smallest things can get under your skin. Still happens sometimes now, but after 5 years of marriage we have both learned to let things go when they are trivial.** Anyway, I even think I called my Mom and vented to her a little about it. She was probably laughing her head off after I hung up with her. Zach had missed out on this very spiritual Stake conference to pick up my ring and call my Dad to ask permission to marry me. I think Dad told him he would "break his arms" if he ever hurt me. Way to go Dad! The next day (Sunday) after the Sunday session of SC Zach took me down to Idaho Falls to walk around the temple. I should have known, right?? I think I wanted to take some pics of the temple in the snow. He offered to take a picture of me in front of the temple, conveniently positioning himself on one knee.....after the picture, he then did not get up. The rest is history; he asked me to marry him, I said yes, and here we are! It was a good day :-) My Mom tried to tell me I had to ask Todd, Zach's Dad, for permission to marry him - sort of a "turnabout's fair play" idea. I think Todd's response was something like "Sure, anything to get rid of him!" Glad I could take him off your hands :-D I am so glad he asked me to marry him. He is a sweet and loving husband, a fabulous father, and a worthy priesthood holder. He has given me so much and I love him for it!! Thanks for asking me babe - I know it wasn't easy (Beattie boys have serious commitment fears) but it has made my life so much happier! I love you!!

How sweet! I love it that you were ticked at him! That is very similar to how things went down with us when Jeff did the formal proposal with the ring. Hilarious!
A great beginning to such a great little family!
Hey, at the risk of sounding completely paranoid and rediculous would you pretty please take our last name off your side bar? I'm totally flattered that you've got us linked by the way. Thanks so much Jackie!
Ahhh, to be young and in love...after a few years you forget what got you there in the first place...I love being in love!
