I've been tagged.....

This tagging thing is hard. I can't come up with this stuff!!
I'm supposed to tell you 7 random things about myself. This should be interesting.
1. I have serious stage fright. I think it's gotten worse over the past few years. When Keeg had to give his talk in primary, I was sick to my stomach all through sacrament.......he wasn't nervous AT ALL.
2. I still daydream about being all those things you used to daydream about when you were a little girl. Cinderella (or any princess in general), a ballerina....you know. Some things never change.
3. I am extremely self conscious. Probably why I have stage fright. Not that it holds me back too much; I've learned to deal with it. But it still gets to me.
4. I am always cold. ALWAYS. The moments I am warm are rare. Zach is still working on a way to recreate my cold hands/feet to sell and make millions.
5. I love babies. I would hold them all day if I had nothing else to do.
6. I am a big chicken. Does this surprise anyone? I let my imagination get the better of me ALL THE TIME.
7. I think I've said this before - but I love Charmed. The tv show, on TNT? It is my favorite show of all time; and right behind it is Dancing with the Stars. Does Priscilla Presley give anyone else the creeps? I think it is her plasticized face.....

A little help please?

K1: This is 911 emergency! Can I help you? uh huh, your address please? OK, get out of the house, the fire department is on the way!! *thundering up the stairs* WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO!!!!! *thundering down the stairs* THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ON THE WAY!!!!! (envision K1 pushing fire truck around at an alarming rate of speed considering K2 is directly in his path.....)

In true fireman style, Keeg has now become a jack of all trades. He dispatches, he responds to the call, and (with a little encouragement) he cleans up after! The only thing he needs to work on his remembering his 'inside voice.' I'm sure 15 years from now he may know what I'm talking about, but he probably still won't do it.

My little K2 (as he has been dubbed by Uncle Jayme) is going from a sweet content little baby, to a sweet but trouble-causing little mover. Zach and I have decided that we got a climber. HELP! In the last 3 days, he has climbed under a chair, but over the rungs of the chair (almost getting stuck), climbed into a laundry basket and sat in it looking immensely proud of himself, climbed through the step stool and got stuck, climbed over anything I try to use to block off the fireplace, pulled himself up on the dishwasher, tried to climb the stairs (thankfully so far, he hasn't made it past the first step). This evening, before his bath, he climbed onto Keeg's step stool in the bathroom and pulled himself up on the toilet. Yummy. And this is only the beginning, I know. Oooh, boy.

To recap the last few days, we had our Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning! Keeg was SO excited, and Kayden, he could have cared less. The boys both got some darn cute attire, which they donned for church on Sunday. I love the outfits! Keegan had fun finding all the eggs, and then was able to enjoy some time with Daddy. Zach built him a fire station out of lincoln logs (thanks Aunt Jess) and it was a BIG hit. Zach was quite proud of it, that's an engineer for ya! He will want me to point out that the roof had no supporting beams that went all the way across - the roof was held up by a perfect balance of counterweight! Be sure to leave your congratulations for him ;-) After church, we packed up and headed down to my parents. Their kitchen remodel is going great, and almost finished!! It looks so beautiful, I can't wait to see the finished product! We had fun hanging out with them, even if it ended a little sooner than expected; the K's and I were going to hang around for a couple days, but it didn't work out!
The latest and greatest news though is that Jayme and Virginia are expecting!!!!! HURRAY!!!! I am WAY excited for them, and can't wait for this little addition! Congrats guys!

Monday Moment.....

Well, I couldn't think of anything really creative. I have been slacking on my "Wordless Wednesday" posts lately. I have quite a few Easter pictures to get up, and I will as soon as I get a second to sit down! We are currently down at the Glasmann farm celebrating the Easter weekend; Keegan is having lots of fun following Grandpa everywhere. Hopefully Grandpa is enjoying it as well!! I was perusing the pictures on my parent's computer and found one that just about made me fall out of the chair laughing......
Memories of potty training Keegan; May/June 2006
He loved Grandpa's "headphones"

He always requested reading material while contemplating his existence. This selection is a Lance Camper catalogue; another favorite was Grandpa's National Rifle Assoc. magazine.....
And this one is just 'cuz he was extremely cool at a young age. Look at his GQ style......

And here is one more for those of you enjoying the Oregon "sunshine" -

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here is a fun "green" recipe for today - we are making it for dessert after FHE. It's fizzy and fun!!

1 pkg lime jello (the big size)
2 cups applesauce
1 pkg of gelatin
7UP/Sprite...take your pick.
Use a 13 X 9 pan

All you do is mix the gelatin in with the powdered jello; add the hot water that the jello recipe calls for; mix until dissolved. Add the applesauce; and add 2 cups of your favorite lemon/lime flavored soda (we don't discriminate here)in place of the cold water called for in the jello recipe. Refrigerate until set - then dig in! It's pretty fun, the applesauce kind of soaks up the soda and so the jello is all fizzy! Enjoy and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

oh yeah...I got this recipe from my mom :-) Happy now, Mom?

"BIG" Primary

Today in church Keegan gave his first primary talk!! It was SOOOOOOO cute!!. Zach and I were trying really hard not to laugh during it, just because he is so funny. When it was his turn, he just marched up there fearlessly, pulls the mic down to his level, and gave his talk! He had it memorized (even though it looks like he is reading it - he can't read that well yet!) and talked about how Jesus is our Savior and teaches us to listen to our parents. He then looked at me and says "And now my testimony?" I nodded my head and he proceeded to bear his testimony! It was just too cute. We recorded this Saturday night before bed. He was practicing it. It is kind of quiet, so you might have to turn it up a little to hear it. He did great and we are so proud of him!

PS He actually wrote the majority of the talk; the topic was "Jesus is my Savior" and Zach and I just asked him what he thought that meant, and what he wanted to say. Keeg sat down with me at the computer and he gave it to me almost word for word - I just typed it up!
pps gotta love him pickin' a wedgie during this....due to his growth spurt, these jammies are now WAAAAAY too small, but he won't stop wearing them because they have fire trucks on them.........

Growing pains

I used to love watching that show. But the show has nothing to do with this post........anyone shocked? Quite literally, my Keeg is having growing pains! At least he was, a couple weeks ago. He was waking up EVERY night with them, crying about his legs hurting. I felt so bad for him!! Well, now I know why. About 1 month ago, we put up this cute little measuring stick in the boys room. We stood them both up to it (well, I held Kayden up while Zach measured)and marked down their heights, the month, and the year. The other day, after putting two and two together {or just addding it up, it's been a lot more than two and two - leg aches, ravenous appetite, sleeping lots, clothes SUDDENLY not fitting anymore etc, etc...ok, so maybe it is two and two (aka 4). give me a break, I hate math} I stood Keeg up to the measuring stick again, and low and behold - he has grown 1/2 an inch! In just a few weeks! No wonder all of his shirts have turned into belly-shirts. Is Old Navy having any sales soon??
I am shocked, I can't believe he had such a quick growth spurt! It was crazy really, he would have 2nds or 3rds at dinner - and I mean, clean his whole plate, fill it almost as full, and then clean it again. Have you seen how skinny he is? Problem is, his whole life (a whopping 3 1/2 years) every time he gains a pound, he grows an inch. Poor guy is going to stay a beanpole for years, at least until he stops getting any taller. Even then, I'm not going to hold my breath for any significant weight gain. But, I digress.
The point of this post is - HE CAN RIDE HIS BIG WHEEL!!! He got a big wheel for his 3rd birthday last year. He couldn't reach the pedals!! Last month, I tried him out on it, thinking maybe he was ready for the bigger bike (his small trike is just WAY WAY small now). He could reach the pedals, but he couldn't get anywhere, because they would be just out of reach when pedaling. Does that make sense? Am I rambling, or what?! Today, after finally using my brain (watch out, folks) we went out during a rain break and tested my theory. SUCCESS!!! I know, hold the applause.......
Anyway, it was tons of fun, I put Kayde in the backpack carrier and we biked all around on the little paths by our house. It made me so excited for more sunny days where we can go out for walks while Keeg rides his bike! I took some self portraits of Kayde and I; not my best work, but a girl can only do so much! I got my hair cut about 2 weeks ago, and my sis has been pestering me to get some pics up. I love it, it is so much nicer to have it manageable again!!
It cracks me up how he is peeking around.....

Big brothers are WAY more interesting than Mom waving a camera in your face

He fits!!

PS. Notice Keeg's outfit? Fireman boots...coat...his overalls (aka, his 'turnout gear') he has been wearing this ALL WEEK. I told him tonight, that he had to wear something different tomorrow - 5 days of the overalls was enough. He looked at me and said "Firemen have to be ready all the time, Mom." Yeah, but I'm pretty sure they wash their clothes too.......

I've sold my soul.............

For a GALLON OF GAS. Seriously. What is going on??? I remember when I first started driving (I know, I know - not that long ago compared to some) a gallon of gas was like $1.02. Zach tells me he remembers paying less than a dollar for it; I have to admit, I almost don't believe him. It just doesn't seem like it's possible. But HONESTLY. I just filled up Zach's little car for him tonight, and I got 11 gallons for $38. My children will now starve. It's a good thing his car gets pretty good gas mileage, because this is insane, and I don't know how we are going to afford gas. But that is all my venting for today...........

I know I've been lazy about blogging lately. I have a confession to make. I've got my nose stuck in a book. Or a series of books. Now now, don't jump to conclusions. It's not the Twilight series, although I have borrowed the first book from a friend, and I have every intention of starting it! As soon as I can get over my insatiable need to continue with this other series. Have any of you read "The Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan? I'm addicted. It's kind of weird; I'm not usually a fantasy lover, but these books are pretty cool. Zach started reading them when we lived in SLC, and I used to harass him about not putting them down sometimes. I understand though, I myself am a bookworm, and was constantly getting caught reading a book when I should have been doing some chore - sorry Mom! Anyway, he told me I should read them, that I would like them, yada yada. A few weeks ago when I was going through all those dumb tests and was stressed out of my mind, I picked one up (having read every other book in our house before) to take my mind off things. I haven't put them down since!! I am now on book 6 of the series, but I read the prequel first, so I guess that means I am on my 7th book in about 4 weeks. Needless to say, things have been neglected; my house, my laundry, my kids.....haha, no, I've managed to keep everyone fed and clothed! But my every spare second finds me with my nose stuck in the latest book! Sadly, I picked up these books and Zach told me the author has passed away, and the final book of the series is yet unwritten! Argh. But I guess all of his manuscripts and notes have been turned over to an approved author, and the final book should come out in 2-3 years. Could you please hurry?

Lately, I've been amazed at how grown up my Keeg is. On Sunday, I picked him up from Sunbeams (his Sunday school class at church) and he had a little envelope that he was frantically waving in my face. He was asked to give a talk in primary!!! I couldn't believe it. It is pathetic that I want to video record it? Do you think they will let me do that? I just really can hardly believe that he is old enough for this. We saw some middle school boys around our townhouse today and I couldn't help but watch them and think 'I hope Keegan doesn't walk with that swagger when he is their age....' It is crazy to think that in 4 months he will be 4 years old....and then in a year he will be in kindergarten! AHHHHH!!

A bonding moment over a fireman movie.....so cute!!
My happy boy!!

Kayden never ceases to amaze me either. He is 8 1/2 months old, army-crawls like a true soldier, gets himself EVERYWHERE, including under the table, through all the chair legs to the electrical outlet on the other side, parks himself in front of the fridge waiting for me to open it (do you think he is trying to tell me something??), and basically just gets into everything as best he can. He can sign 'more', he started giving me kisses (slobbery, but SOOO precious), and has 3 teeth - two on the bottom and one off to the side on top. He loves to have me play "pat-a-cake" with him and only wants to feed himself; I get to sneak bites in between his fistfuls of cheerios/fruit/avocados/scrambled eggs, whatever I can give to him to keep his hands busy. Where has the time gone?

A week ago, Jace came down to visit us! It was so fun - aside from the fact that I was miserably sick, and the boys weren't so hot either! We attempted to go to church, but I couldn't make it. Thankfully Jace was here, because Zach brought us home, Jace watched the boys and I took a little nap while Zach went back to his duties with the Elders Quorum. It was fun to have Jace visit for the day; he is one of the K's favorites, and dental school keeps him busy. Zach and I are determined to get up to Seattle to visit him soon. Unforunately, soon is relative for Zach. He finishes his classes up this next week, followed by 2 weeks where he will be nonexistent to us as he cranks out 2 papers that will be submitted to be published! It will be REALLY stressful for him, and he will be pulling some long days at school. Bummer. I really miss him when he is gone all day!
Aside from that, not much has been going on. Keeg has been on a fireman kick all week. We checked out some videos from the library about firemen (again) and so every day finds him in his 'turnout gear.' Overalls (because they are like the pants/suspenders firemen wear) with his rubber fireman boots, fireman coat, and hat. He wears this basically all day; the coat and hat come off at different times, but for the most part, this is his outfit. He sits himself down in front of the TV and watches the movies back to back. Then he goes upstairs to get his fire truck as soon as it is done and proceeds to rescue people from fires. I love it; I think it is so cute! Sometimes I even am allowed to join in the fun :-) I get to wear a hat too....

A Day to Remember....

Exactly 5 years ago today, Zach asked me to marry him at the Idaho Falls Temple. It was FREEZING (as it often is in Idaho) and I don't think I had a coat on while we were walking around. The days leading up to this are funny to remember; the week before it had been my stake conference. We were in different wards and we weren't one of those couples who attended one or the other's wards - we each went to our own. But our stake events usually fell at different times, and so we would usually go with each other to those. I asked Zach if he wanted to come to the Saturday afternoon session with me. he said no, coming up with some excuse that his roommate needed a ride somewhere. I remembered being rather miffed over this LAME excuse. Did his roommate not have 4 other guys with cars to ask? Seriously...lame. But whatever. I was irritated about it, because the week previous he had called rather last minute to have me come to his Stake Conference - I only felt I deserved the same attention! **It's really funny to me to think about this now; when I was single, the smallest things can get under your skin. Still happens sometimes now, but after 5 years of marriage we have both learned to let things go when they are trivial.** Anyway, I even think I called my Mom and vented to her a little about it. She was probably laughing her head off after I hung up with her. Zach had missed out on this very spiritual Stake conference to pick up my ring and call my Dad to ask permission to marry me. I think Dad told him he would "break his arms" if he ever hurt me. Way to go Dad! The next day (Sunday) after the Sunday session of SC Zach took me down to Idaho Falls to walk around the temple. I should have known, right?? I think I wanted to take some pics of the temple in the snow. He offered to take a picture of me in front of the temple, conveniently positioning himself on one knee.....after the picture, he then did not get up. The rest is history; he asked me to marry him, I said yes, and here we are! It was a good day :-) My Mom tried to tell me I had to ask Todd, Zach's Dad, for permission to marry him - sort of a "turnabout's fair play" idea. I think Todd's response was something like "Sure, anything to get rid of him!" Glad I could take him off your hands :-D I am so glad he asked me to marry him. He is a sweet and loving husband, a fabulous father, and a worthy priesthood holder. He has given me so much and I love him for it!! Thanks for asking me babe - I know it wasn't easy (Beattie boys have serious commitment fears) but it has made my life so much happier! I love you!!

Spring fever.........

Does anyone else think it has been a looooong, coooooold winter? Heh heh heh.....

This is my cousin and my sister-in-law, or my brother-in-law and my cousin by marriage.....however you look at it, THEY ARE FAMILY!Loren is my cousin, and Autumn is Zach's sister. That's not what is important - Loren and Autumn just found out they are expecting TWINS!!! YEAH!! I am SO excited for them, it wasn't an easy process for them, and I am JUST SO DARN EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and I am also secretly glad I'm not having twins....ever....) They are a cute couple, and I'm betting they will be having some cute kids to boot! Congrats you two, we love you guys!

It seems this is a theme in my extended family this spring....here is my other cousin Tracy (sister to Loren), and her husband Elliot

They also just found out they are expecting! Tracy is HILARIOUS and is going to be the coolest Mom on the block; you know, the one that always does the funnest, craziest, stuff? (is funnest a word? probably not.) I am way excited for them too!

And last, but definitely not least....Here is my cousin Deveney and her hubby Chris! She is also cousin to Loren and Tracy - hey, I come from a big family. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg.

Rumor has it, they are also expecting!! It's actually a fairly reliable rumor...Our Grandpa, so I'm pretty sure it's the real thing! Congrats to Dev and Chris!!
I am WAY excited for this new batch of cousins to come into the world, it's fun to see the cousins I have fond memories of playing with and spending the night at their houses growing up and having kids....CRAZY. I for sure never imagined it when all the girl cousins had our sleepovers after Thanksgiving! Congratulations to you guys and I love you all! Thanks for all the fun times we had growing up; you gals were some of my best buds! And you Loren....you were my pal too ;-)
