Book buddies

I am so happy my boys love to read. There is nothing else I would rather have them do.

Isn't it snack time?

Otherwise known as caught 'orange' handed. Kayden is a magnet for anything semi-junk food. Thankfully, we hardly ever have any in the house, but as you can see, he found one I was hiding. But seriously. Who can resist Cheetos?

I am........

very excited for this week to be over. It will be such a relief to be done with:
- giving a talk in church (whew, that is already done, thank heavens!)
- teaching 2 days of preschool, which entails getting lots of things prepped beforehand
- hosting my 2nd pack meeting, the Blue and Gold Banquet (hoo-rah for Cub scouts)
- figuring out how to get all the awards for the cub scouts before Wednesday, with preschool being Tuesday and Wednesday
- going to OMSI for a preschool field trip (how will I contain Kayden?!)
For the most part, my stress level will be majorly reduced on Wednesday night around 9 pm, after the Blue and Gold Banquet is done, along with preschool. The weekend just can't come soon enough for me this week.............................

Making a Geologist Proud

After learning about rocks & soil in preschool this week, and having a 'guest speaker' of Grandpa Reed to teach about rocks, Keegan has been on the lookout everywhere we go. In a blissful afternoon of sunshine, he had a geological moment..........

K1: "MOM! MOM!! I did it! I found a rock!"

M: "Wow, that's great Keegan." (how could this rock be different from the last ten he had found?)

K1: "Look!" (said in a slightly breathless voice) "It has air bubbles in it!" (said with reverence)

M: "ooooooohhh." (I was so totally not sarcastic, Dad, I promise)

K1: "It's a volcanic rock." (still with reverence)

So there you have it, Dad. He listened to you in preschool, and appreciated every second of the 10 minute talk you gave. I know it was ridiculous to have you drive 2 hours to hang out with a bunch of 4 year olds with short attention spans, but they loved it. Most of them asked if you were coming back today, and were disappointed when they found out you weren't. Keegan is convinced that this rock is volcanic, because it has little pockets in it that look similar to the rock you showed them yesterday. Thanks for coming up and starting a new era of rock collectors. We love you!

**ps - for those who may be concerned, I have reserved the Pride and Prejudice version starring Colin Firth as "Mr. Darcy" at the library. I will be picking it up asap! Thanks for all the recommendations, I am loving the book and have watched the movie twice more. Apparently, this has "bewitched me, body and soul." HAHAHA!!**

I'm Obsessed.........

With this movie and book. I don't know how I missed out on ever reading and/or seeing this, but I have never before seen any version of this movie or read the book. WHAT WAS I THINKING?! I borrowed it from a friend and watched it last night while Zach was at school until 10pm. This afternoon after preschool, I started reading it. Tonight, I am watching it again. I'm pretty sure this will be the way of things until my friend forces me to give this movie back...........

This is me......

This is me slacking.
This month is my 'turn' to teach Keegan's preschool. It is really fun, but really exhausting. We are up early, getting dressed, beds made, teeth brushed, breakfast eaten (usually before the teeth part), supplies together, drop Kayden off at a gracious friends house (thanks Kim and Kristen), and off to the current house for preschool. Back home in time to scarf down some lunch and get the boys down for naps. When they are up, it's off to run errands in the short amount of time I have before making dinner, cleaning up, getting into jammies, brushing teeth, the occasional bath, and bed again. Sometimes, we see Daddy in there, between his school, meetings, and church youth activities.
Yesterday, Kayden woke up from his nap and walked into my room and gave me his sweet smile. I wanted to cry. It hit me that I haven't really 'seen' my kids this month. It hit me how much I missed Kayden when I had to drop him off at friends houses. It hit me that I even missed the one-on-one interaction with Keegan. So I decided to forgo my list of errands for that day, and be a slacker. A procrastinator.

All so I could do some of this:

Play piano

Decorate my windows

I even had time to take in a car show.

This is me feeling much better.

Photo Tag

This is the tag where you open the fourth file, and choose the fourth photo. This is my Keegan and I. We had just purchased a webcam for our computer to be able to talk with Autumn and Loren on Skype while they were living in Singapore. Keegan was just barely 2 years old, and fascinated with this new technology. Now, talking to people half a world away on the computer is 'old hat.' I can't believe how much he has changed. He has the cutest grin and the sweetest face. *sigh* Time goes too fast!

Party hardy

Or not...................

For two little boys, one recovering from ear infection and cold, and one still suffering miserably from the cold, a super bowl party was the last thing on their minds.
